House COO Brian Koenig Promoted to General Manager
Chicago, Illinois (January 16, 2025) - After three years as the club’s Chief Operating Officer, Brian Koenig has been elevated to the Chicago House AC General Manager role, the club announced Thursday.
“Brian has served an integral role in stabilizing and growing the club since 2022,” Managing Partner Peter Wilt said. “He has worked closely with me on the business side, the coaches of the men’s and women’s teams and he has been responsible for the club’s tremendous youth programming growth.”
“I am proud of the work from the last three years,” Koenig said. “There is much more to do and I am excited to take the challenge head-on.” Since 2022, Koenig has led the House women’s team move to the WPSL, the acquisition of Olympic Soccer Academy, and moving both the men’s and women’s teams to Elmhurst University. “Brian is very goal-oriented. He always sets the bar very high to provide a challenge every day,” Wilt said.
“The future of House is very bright. Excited for the growth opportunities in the pipeline for 2025,” Koenig said.
The 2001 graduate of Northern Illinois University studied Marketing with an emphasis on professional selling. He also serves as President of a premier soccer retailer Soccer 2000 in Downers Grove where he has worked since 2002. He has also served as the Merchandiser for Chicago Red Stars and Chicago House. Koenig previously served as a staff coach and director at Strikers Fox Valley. He started coaching in 2003. He has coached with Lyons Township SC, Ajax FC, and was the director of AFC Premier. In addition to club soccer, Koenig coached at Nequa Valley High School and at Illinois Benedictine for two years. In 2019, he joined Strikers Fox Valley working with the COE program, and in 2021 became a staff coach for the U8-U10 boys.
Koenig grew up playing soccer in Houston, Texas, and Naperville. He now resides in Geneva with his wife, Karolyn, and three children.
ABOUT CHICAGO HOUSE AC: Founded in 2020, Chicago House AC is a community-based soccer club with men’s and women’s teams playing home games at Elmhurst University. The club also has U-23 men’s and women’s squads and boys, girls and futsal academies. The men’s team joined the Midwest Premier League after a year of playing in the third-division professional National Independent Soccer Association. The women’s team played an independent schedule in 2023 and joined WPSL in 2023 for the 2024 season. The House men’s team finished its 11-game 2022 schedule with ten straight matches undefeated before beginning a Cinderella US Open Cup run of five straight matches undefeated before falling to Major League Soccer’s Chicago Fire. In 2023, House had another successful MWPL season and is playing this Saturday in the 4th and final round of the 2024 US Open Cup Qualifying. Chicago House AC U-23 team has played two seasons and finished atop the standings both years with only one loss over two years.
